The Ammo update is live


Hi fellow sailors,

Previous play tests have shown that the long range weapon combined with defensive equipment tends to be the most effective strategy. And I obviously want several strategies to be viables.

Before the update, by staying at long range, you use the increased miss rate of your opponent to help your defense systems to recharge. It also gives you more time to deal with fire in case of incendiary weapons. And, icing on the cake, longer fights give more experience to your manning crew. Of course, you have to be able to maintain that long distance with the enemy ship. But still, this strategy had too many pros and too few cons.



So, here comes the “Ammo Update” which introduces… ammo! (you guessed it?). This new resource is consumed every time a ship weapons shoots. Ammo is not very expensive, but on the long run, always staying at long range will impact your economy. It also encourages you to go the more often more risky close distance.

The ammo update also solves a problematic situation that could happen since the first versions of the game: in some rare cases, you had no way to win the fight (due to inappropriate weapons or enemy heavy defenses), but you also had no way to flee, due to enemy superior speed. Now that the enemy also has limited ammo, the fight will always end.

The ammo update also comes with new events related to … ammo. Like trading ammo, using ammo, etc.

This update also comes with many small new features, balance changes (most of them making the game a little easier) and bug fixes. Most notably, all text events now have proper texts. No more only “you find an enemy ship”. You will be able to learn a little more about the various factions of the game.
